Senior Vice President, Creative Director, Global Licensing
Playboy Enterprises Inc.
Spearheading the global creative design for consumer products in Playboy Enterprises Inc.’s Product Licensing division, Aaron Duncan influences the categories of fashion, accessories, lifestyle, retail design and in-store creative, and entertainment, which includes games, music, clubs, and location-based entertainment destinations. Supervising a team of designers, Duncan works with PEI’s international publishing and online partners to develop creative strategies that augment the company’s global reach and positioning.
Since joining Playboy in 1998 as director of design development, Duncan has managed the design for all Playboy-branded products and has been instrumental in repositioning Playboy’s consumer products retail program. He has worked to grow the Licensing Group’s product categories and to develop unique products for PlayboyStore.com. He has spearheaded all creative components for store design, including the first freestanding store in the U.S., the Playboy Concept Boutique in Las Vegas, as well as for stores in Melbourne, Hong Kong, Kuala Lumpur, Bangkok, Auckland, and London. His creative design also include the Palms Casino Resort in Las Vegas, a Playboy entertainment destination with a high-end retail boutique, nightclub, boutique casino and lounge, and sky villa. Future projects include a Playboy Mansion concept in Macao’s Cotai strip—a 40,000-square-foot entertainment, gaming, and resort complex to open in late 2009 with a fashion boutique, nightlife, dining and entertainment venues, and a Hugh M. Hefner Villa.
Duncan leverages his international experience from Hong Kong’s G2000 Apparel Ltd., where he served as design manager for U2 Menswear, revamping the U2 brand in 180 stores throughout Asia with more fashionable product packaging and branding. He has also worked as a designer for J. Crew and interned for Donna Karan. His retail background includes serving as assistant buyer for Saks Fifth Avenue and as a home furnishings merchandise manager at JCPenney.
Duncan earned an associate’s degree at the Fashion Institute of Technology in 1994 and a Bachelor of Business Administration degree from the University of Miami in 1988. He is a member of the Retail Council of the Association for Retail Environments and sits on the Editorial Advisory Board of VMSD. |
